Wow Gold -- The Zombie Invasion
There are many reports are flooding in about the zombie invasion in the game, which found in the town of the Booty Bay. As rumor goes around that diseased players have ten minutes to be cured by healers from the Argent Dawn faction or by other players with the "Cure Disease" spell, or they become zombies, hostile to everything in the world except other undead. Players who are turned get a new zombie skill bar, along with the ability to spread the undead plague to other players, but once they join the legions of the undead, the only way out is death.
But how many zombies make does it take to make a meme? How many zombies is too many zombies? And why is every game obsessed with them all of sudden? Well, even more so than usual.
It is no doubt that the en vogue way to drum up renewed interest in a game right now - no less than three usually non-zombie-centric titles have made the headlines in the last few days thanks to a little unexpected undeadery.
First of all, we've got Call of Duty 5 announcing its new zombies-in-world-war-2 mode, apparently unlocked upon completing the singleplayer game:
The reaction is so interesting, towards the game from some corners, but the revelation that it's got a little of the fantastical thrown in with all those Nazis seems to have gotten people talking.
Over in console land, GTA IV's enjoying a zombie outbreak, spread by infected players traipsing across multiplayer servers and passing on the zomb virus to all and sundry. It's an almost an ARG, becoming a global epidemic that can be monitored via Rockstar's somewhat superfluous Social Club community site. With the PC release hitting soon, hopefully this Halloween-themed bonus will trickle down to us lot too.
Then there's the World of Warcraft plague, something of a herald for the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It's a similarish concept to GTA's, only here the scale is naturally massive. Players can contract the infection all too easily, and if they don't manage to cure it within a couple of minutes, they become zombified. They can then zombify passing innocents thanks to a gruesomely effective area of effect Retch attack.
"You can't cast the spells/abilities any more that you had as a normal character, and formerly friendly NPCs now consider you an enemy. However, you are able to cast new, unique zombie spells," "As a zombie, you are part of a special faction that is friendly with all zombies and can converse with them, regardless of whether they were part of the Horde or Alliance in their mortal existences."
Through the World of Warcraft the Argent Dawn healers have appeared in response to the plague and will automatically heal nearby players, but some people still aren't terribly pleased with this recent turn of events, in particular those who don't enjoy PvP combat. Unlike the Corrupted Blood plague, however, this one looks fairly easy to contain and control.
Zombies are zombies, they transcend the boundaries of PvP and PvE, your new motivation is that the zombies are invading and it is the end of the world.
